Nicki Minaj is in another legal spotlight for allegedly shortchanging a production company out of more than $275,000.
According to TMZ, the production company, 24/7 Productions, filed a lawsuit against Nicki and her company, Pink Friday Productions for refusing to pay the hefty bill.
The lawsuit stems from work tied to Minaj’s 2023 shows. 24/7 Productions says it stepped in during late 2023 when Minaj’s team needed help with her iHeartRadio Jingle Ball performances and the rollout for Pink Friday 2.
In its complaint, 24/7 Productions claimed it first partnered with the rapper during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards. At that time, the company provided her with live entertainment production services. They claim to have given Minaj’s team “advance planning, on-site management, staffing, audio, lighting, rigging, ground transportation, and overall logistics.”
During the awards show, Minaj performed a medley of her biggest hits upon accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Court records note that Nicki’s company received around 650000 dollars just for the Jingle Ball dates yet the production expenses never got reimbursed. The suit lists breach of contract among other claims and asks for damages that top $275,000 plus interest and fees.
This is not a fan ticket refund case or tour cancellation issue. It centers on a business deal between professionals that the production team says fell apart over unpaid bill.
In the lawsuit, 24/7 said they have repeatedly attempted to collect their fees from Minaj. However, her team allegedly sends back replies claiming, “We’ll look into this.” AllHipHop reported that Nicki’s company even acknowledged the debt in writing. One alleged message read, “We will be able to send you the money for the radio shows as soon as it is received.”
