Dr. La’boris Cole-Sapp, the wife of gospel music legend Bishop Marvin Sapp, utilized a recent Easter Sunday service to forcefully address online rumors alleging the couple used church finances to fund their extravagant nuptials. Speaking directly to the congregation and online critics, Cole-Sapp defended her husband’s character and detailed the private nature of their wedding expenses.

The “Never Would Have Made It” singer and Cole-Sapp wed on March 20 at The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth. While the ceremony was a joyous occasion for the couple, photos of their lavish celebration—specifically an image featuring the newlyweds alongside a helicopter—sparked immediate speculation across social media platforms regarding the source of the funding.

During the service, Cole-Sapp called her husband an “integral man” and dismissed the notion that his ministry was used for personal gain. She addressed the skeptics directly, stating that the church did not pay for the wedding and that people should “stop lying” about their finances. Her comments sought to reinforce the Bishop’s reputation as a leader who does not “rob the church.” In a candid moment, Cole-Sapp explained that she personally handled the costs for the high-end amenities seen in their wedding photos. “Everybody not broke [and] everybody don’t need the church’s money,” she said, specifically noting that she paid for the helicopter herself.

She emphasized that both she and her husband have successful careers and “multiple streams of income” outside of the pulpit. Bishop Marvin Sapp, a 13-time Grammy nominee and prominent figure in the gospel music industry, has led The Chosen Vessel Church since 2019.

This marriage marks a significant new chapter for the singer, who was previously married to the late Dr. MaLinda Sapp until her passing in 2010.
