Drake is leaning into the viral success of his hit single “Janice STFU” with a promotional event few fans could have predicted.

The rapper announced plans for a series of invitation-only “apology parties” for women whose legal first name is Janice. The gatherings are scheduled across several major cities. They are expected to take place on Sunday, June 28.

The campaign follows weeks of online conversation surrounding the song, which became one of the breakout records from Drake’s ICEMAN project. The track inspired memes, social media debates and speculation over the identity of the song’s titular “Janice.”

According to posts shared on Drake’s Instagram Story, invitations are being sent to Janices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Toronto and Houston.

“All my Janice’s in NY, LA, MIA, TO, HOU, look out for my invitation for Sunday,” Drake wrote.

A Strict Guest List

The exclusive events come with one major requirement.

Attendees must prove that “Janice” is their legal first name using a valid government-issued identification card. Nicknames, middle names and other variations reportedly will not qualify.

One confirmed event is scheduled at Toronto’s Cactus Club. The gathering is expected to run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Local details for several U.S. cities have been shared through invitations and RSVP information.

The promotion appears designed to acknowledge the unexpected attention surrounding “Janice STFU.”

The song’s title quickly became an internet catchphrase after its release. Social media users flooded platforms with jokes aimed at anyone sharing the name Janice. Many real-life Janices also joined the conversation with humorous reactions of their own.

Turning Online Buzz Into Real-World Marketing

Drake has frequently incorporated elaborate marketing ideas into album releases. The Janice-themed parties continue that strategy by extending an online joke into an in-person experience.

The campaign also arrives as “Janice STFU” continues to perform strongly on streaming platforms and music charts. The record has become one of the standout songs from ICEMAN while fueling continued discussion over its lyrics and possible targets.

Although fans continue to debate whether the song references a specific person, Drake has not publicly identified anyone as the inspiration behind the title. That mystery has only added to the track’s staying power online.

Instead, the rapper appears focused on embracing the joke.

By inviting women named Janice to exclusive events, Drake has transformed a viral lyric into an interactive promotional campaign. The unusual concept has already generated another wave of headlines and social media conversation.

Whether attendees view the gatherings as a genuine apology or simply clever marketing, the events demonstrate Drake’s willingness to blur the line between internet culture and fan engagement.

For the lucky guests, however, one thing remains non-negotiable.

Their driver’s license must say “Janice.”
