Reality television personality and cosmetic dentist Dr. Heavenly Kimes conceded Wednesday after losing the Democratic primary for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District, ending a closely watched campaign that blended celebrity recognition with grassroots politics.
Kimes, known for her longtime role on Bravo’s Married to Medicine, finished second in Tuesday’s primary behind Georgia state Rep. Jasmine Clark. Clark secured more than half of the vote, avoiding a runoff and advancing to the general election in November.
In a video shared to social media, Kimes thanked supporters and acknowledged the outcome while signaling she may remain politically active.
“We did something different; we made history,” Kimes said. “We built a real movement. And most importantly, we showed that everyday people still have a voice.”
Kimes also confirmed she personally called Clark to congratulate her after the race.
“I’ve already called Jasmine Clark and congratulated the queen,” she said. “I’m sure she’ll do an amazing job.”
Celebrity Campaign Drew National Attention
Kimes entered the race after initially planning a campaign for the Georgia House of Representatives in 2025. Earlier this year, she shifted her focus to the congressional contest following changes in the district’s political landscape.
Her campaign centered on healthcare access, women’s rights and economic opportunity. Kimes frequently highlighted her experience as a business owner and dentist while presenting herself as an outsider to traditional politics. Her platform also leaned heavily on community engagement and voter outreach through social media.
The campaign attracted national attention because of Kimes’ television profile. She has appeared on Married to Medicine since 2014 and became one of the franchise’s most recognizable personalities.
Still, political analysts noted that celebrity status did not guarantee success in a competitive Democratic primary. Clark entered the race with years of legislative experience and established support throughout the district.
Kimes reportedly raised hundreds of thousands of dollars during the campaign and maintained a visible online presence. Despite that effort, she struggled to overcome opponents with deeper political networks and longstanding voter relationships.
Supporters Praise Effort Despite Defeat
Following the results, supporters flooded social media with messages praising Kimes for entering public service and encouraging her to continue advocating for issues important to her campaign.
Kimes also thanked her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, and their children for supporting her throughout the race.
“No matter what, I am so proud of what we built together,” she wrote in a separate message to supporters.
While her congressional bid ended in defeat, Kimes suggested this may not be her final step into politics.
“This is not over,” she said in her concession remarks.
