There has been an update in the hit-and-run that severely injured Hollywood stunt woman and actress Carrie Bernans in New York City on New Year’s Day.
According to reports, 44-year-old Mohamed Alaouie was charged with aggravated vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, assault, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.” The court documents state that Alaouie and his girlfriend were driving around in his BMW, when witnesses say that he was attacking her.

The driver would later led a police chase down West 34th street where he also hit other vehicles and “allegedly accelerated and hit a food cart on the sidewalk, which hit three pedestrians and pinned two others underneath it.”
During the incident, he also hit three more people and a police officer before his car eventually broke down and he was arrested. Police say that cocaine was found at the scene and in his pants when he was in the hospital.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement, “This defendant allegedly careened through packed sidewalks and streets during the busiest time of the year in midtown. His recklessness endangered the lives of countless New Yorkers and visitors who were ringing in the New Year. I hope the victims can fully recover from their injuries and thank the police officers who were on the scene to apprehend this individual.”
