Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will not be visiting the White House, reportedly due to “scheduling conflicts,” according to a White House representative.
When asked about the upcoming visit during the TIME100 Gala, Hurts offered little comment. In response to a reporter’s question — “Are you planning on visiting the White House next week?” — Hurts simply said, “Umm…” and remained silent. Interpreting his hesitation as an answer, the reporter concluded the exchange with, “Got it. Thank you so much,” before Hurts ended the interview.
There’s no word on what exactly is filling Hurts’ schedule, though he may be busy celebrating his recent marriage to longtime partner Bry Burrows.
As previously reported, he football player revealed he tied the knot, during an interview with Men’s Health. Though Hurts chose to keep the ceremony private and refrained from sharing specific details, he did confirm the happy news with a heartfelt statement: “You can call her my wife.”
Men’s Health revealed the athlete came to the interview with a crumbled-up pink Post-It note in his pocket that read, “you are exactly where you are supposed to be. I love you. Follow God! I follow you.” The note was dedicated to his now wife.
Known for his focus and quiet leadership both on and off the field, Hurts’ low-key announcement fits with the image fans have come to admire: humble, grounded, and guided by faith. While the wedding may have taken place behind closed doors, the love between the newlyweds is clearly something he’s proud to share—even in the most subtle ways.
