R&B singer Jeffrey Osborne has found himself in some legal trouble.
It’s been reported that Osborne is being sued by two women, Maneva Currie and Danielle Buchanan for emotional distress. The women filed a complaint against the singer and the Greek Theater citing negligence as well as discriminatory behavior during his show on May 6, 2023.
The complaint, which was filed in the Superior Court of California, states that the incident began during the crowd participation segment at Osborne’s show at the Greek Theater. Buchanan was picked by the singer’s band to sing the 1986 hit “You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song)” while the camera focused on her face, so that it could be projected on the screens in the theater.
Things reportedly changed when Osborne had requested for a “White person” to sing with him instead. Buchanan, who is White, had clarified her ethnicity into the microphone, however Osborne’s team quickly looked for a replacement singer. The women said that they felt “shocked and embarrassed.”
The lawsuit claims that Osborne’s behavior was discriminatory which left them unable to enjoy the concert.
