The domestic violence trial of Jonathan Majors has been pushed back to September. The actor arrived to court Thursday morning for what was supposed to be the first day of a domestic assault trial.

The hearing wrapped up in less than 10 minutes. Prosecutors asked for more time to collect and review evidence in their case against Majors. He was arrested in March on misdemeanor charges for allegedly assaulting and harassing his previous girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The new court date has been set for Sept. 6, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Press Secretary Doug Cohen confirmed

“For an excruciating four months, Jonathan Majors, the real victim in this shameful ordeal, has had his life, career, and reputation torn apart,” his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said in a statement to USA TODAY. “Yet he remains unwavering in his determination to be absolved from this harrowing ordeal.”

Majors is charged with misdemeanors of assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault and harassment after what New York police called a “domestic dispute” with Jabbari earlier this year. A fifth charge, for strangulation, was later dropped
