Legendary artist Lauryn Hill has addressed the sudden cancellation of the North American leg of her Fugees reunion tour. The announcement came just days before the tour was set to begin, leaving fans disappointed and seeking answers.
In a heartfelt message, Hill expressed her regret over the cancellation. “With difficulty, the decision was made to pull down our upcoming North American tour dates,” she shared. The tour, which was to kick off in Tampa, Florida, on August 9, included 18 dates across major cities like Philadelphia, Dallas, and Los Angeles. Unfortunately, no detailed explanation was provided for the last-minute cancellation.
Hill touched on the challenges she faced in the past year, including a vocal injury that forced her to reschedule several shows. She expressed frustration with the media, claiming that sensational headlines have negatively impacted ticket sales. “Some media outlets’ penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales,” Hill wrote.
Despite the setbacks, Hill remains committed to her art and her fans. “Performing for my fans is a profound exchange of energy and emotion that excites me every time,” she said. “I can assure you that no one is more disappointed about not being able to perform than I am.”
Hill Says European Tour Still On
While the North American tour has been canceled, Hill reassured fans that the European leg of the tour is still on schedule. The tour will begin on October 2 in Dublin, Ireland, and conclude on October 22 in Amsterdam. “We’re looking forward to performing at the shows in the U.K. and Europe in October,” she confirmed.
Hill also hinted at the possibility of rescheduling the North American dates once unforeseen circumstances are resolved. “When these unforeseen circumstances are resolved, we’ll be back in full force,” she promised.
As of now, refunds are being issued to ticket holders, with notifications sent out by Live Nation. Hill’s fans, although disappointed, continue to support her, hoping for future performances. “I love being able to bring these performances to you,” Hill expressed, emphasizing her dedication to her craft and her audience.
