Rapper Lil Wayne says he is once again single after publicly confirming the end of his latest relationship while also denying speculation that he was engaged.
The announcement came weeks after reports claimed the Grammy-winning artist had quietly proposed to a woman in her 20s from Indiana. Those reports circulated widely across entertainment media following an initial report from TMZ. Lil Wayne, however, addressed both the breakup and the engagement rumors in a social media statement.
The rapper, whose legal name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., wrote that the relationship had ended and urged supporters not to direct criticism toward his former partner.
Lil Wayne Addresses Rumors
Wayne dismissed claims that the couple had been engaged. He also appeared to push back against the online attention surrounding his personal life.
“I am not engaged. I never was engaged. She is not my fiancée,” Wayne wrote. “We broke up. That’s all. Please stop harassing her and stop making up stories.”
The statement marked Wayne’s first direct response since speculation intensified over his relationship status. Entertainment outlets had previously described the woman as his alleged fiancée after reports surfaced that the pair planned to marry. Wayne’s remarks appear to end those rumors.
The rapper did not reveal why the relationship ended. He also did not identify the woman by name in his public comments.
Instead, he encouraged fans to respect both parties’ privacy following the breakup.
Romance Drew Public Attention
Wayne’s relationship became a frequent topic online after reports claimed he had become engaged earlier this year. The woman was described in multiple reports as being 23 years old and from Indiana. Neither Wayne nor his representatives publicly confirmed those reports at the time.
His latest comments represent the clearest indication that the engagement stories were inaccurate.
The breakup follows several years of highly publicized relationships for the rapper. Wayne was previously linked to model Denise Bidot in an on-and-off relationship that generated headlines after their reported split in 2025. Bidot publicly accused the rapper of emotional and physical abuse following that breakup. Wayne has not publicly addressed those allegations, and no criminal charges related to the claims were announced.
Earlier in his life, Wayne was married to author and television personality Toya Johnson. The former couple shares daughter Reginae Carter. Wayne also has three sons from previous relationships.
Throughout his career, the rapper has generally kept details about his personal relationships private, despite frequent public interest in his dating life.
His latest social media message suggests he hopes to move beyond the recent speculation.
By denying the engagement outright, Wayne drew a clear line between widespread online rumors and his own account of events. He also emphasized that his former girlfriend should not be subjected to online harassment because of their breakup.
While celebrity relationships often fuel intense discussion across social media, Wayne’s comments appeared intended to settle the matter. His statement left little room for interpretation. According to the rapper, the couple simply ended their relationship, and there was never an engagement to call off.
