Former NBA star Michael Jordan has sparked health concerns among fans after he was spotted at a Champions League game on Thursday (September 19).
Jordan and his wife, Yvette Prieto, attended the Monaco vs. Barcelona UEFA Champions League soccer match where Monaco won 2-1.
In a photo, the 61-year-old basketball legend wore a black t-shirt and a matching version of his own Jordan brand cap, rocking his signature style of a hoop earring in one ear. However fans couldn’t help but notice his glassy, orange-colored scleras – the part of the eye meant to be white.
Fans speculated that Jordan could be suffering from jaundice, a medical condition that turns the skin, sclera, and mucous membranes yellow. “Yellowing of the eyes can occur if your liver, pancreas, or gallbladder isn’t working properly,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Immediately, fans flocked to the comments section, questioning whether they should be worried about Jordan’s health. Some X users thought his eyes were a sign of liver failure.
One user wrote on X, “Livers and kidneys are dead man. He needs to start drinking water and nothing else.”
“Does he have jaundice?” another user tweeted.
“That boy’s liver is cooked,” another user said.
Jaundice occurs when the liver can’t efficiently process red blood cells or if the liver is “overloaded or damaged,” per a Mount Sinai report.
Jordan has not publicly addressed any questions around his health, which existed well before his Bulls docuseries, “The Last Dance,” which released in 2020.
However, the tint of his eyes during that 10-part series raised similar worries from fans.
