Pharrell Williams has canceled this year’s Something in the Water Festival, which was set to take place on October 12-13 in Virginia Beach. The announcement came just hours after tickets had gone on sale, leaving fans surprised and disappointed.
In a heartfelt post shared on social media, Pharrell explained his decision to postpone the festival. “Virginia doesn’t deserve better, Virginia deserves THE BEST,” he wrote. “So SOMETHING IN THE WATER has to match that. It just isn’t ready yet.” Pharrell emphasized his commitment to his home state, wanting to ensure the festival lives up to expectations.
Postponed to April 2025
The artist, who hails from Virginia, has set his sights on a tentative new date. “We as a team have decided we must postpone this year’s SOMETHING IN THE WATER festival,” Pharrell stated. He confirmed that they are aiming for April 2025, adding, “This has to be EPIC, and trust me, after this long wait, it will be.”
Ticket holders who have already purchased passes will receive refunds. They will also get priority access when the new tickets go on sale for the rescheduled event. Pharrell expressed gratitude to the city and sponsors for their continued support, stating, “I am so grateful for their trust in us to get this right.”
Previous Challenges and Future Plans
This isn’t the first time the festival has faced challenges. One previous event had to cancel an entire day due to bad weather, and in 2022, it was moved to Washington, D.C. after Pharrell voiced concerns with Virginia Beach following his cousin’s death at the hands of a local officer. Despite these setbacks, Pharrell remains optimistic about the future of Something in the Water.
“This has grown to be bigger than just me,” he said, underscoring his desire to deliver an unforgettable experience. Fans will eagerly await the 2025 event, with promises of an “epic” show on the horizon.
