Reality-television star Porsha Williams has publicly confirmed what fans had long speculated: she is now dating entrepreneur Patrice “Sway” McKinney. Williams shared affectionate tributes and intimate photos to mark her new relationship, signaling a meaningful shift in her personal life.
A Fresh Start After Divorce
Williams’ announcement comes months after her divorce from Simon Guobadia — a split finalized in June 2025 after a 15-month marriage. During a recent appearance at CultureCon in Brooklyn, Williams revealed she had been dating both a man and a woman. She told the audience, “he is nice and she is nice.”
At the time, she framed it as an exploratory phase of healing and self-discovery. “I’m having a hard time opening up because they’re not narcissists,” she said, describing how her past relationships felt emotionally damaging.
Now, Williams appears to have found a genuine connection with McKinney. In her birthday post for McKinney, Williams included photos of the two together and added a heartfelt caption expressing love and hope.
McKinney, based in Atlanta, is the founder of Encore Salon Suites — the first Black-owned salon suite brand to become a franchise, according to industry sources.
At another recent public appearance — the BravoCon 2025 panel — Williams described her current status as “still single,” but admitted she has begun to focus on someone in particular. “I’m dating, but I have started to focus on someone,” she told the crowd. “I hope that this could be something, but we’ll see.”
Williams said this relationship feels different from those in her past. She admitted that she tends to “love really quickly,” but explained she’s learning to slow things down now.
Her close sister, Lauren Williams, helped encourage the change. “She is coaching me to take my time and not just get to know the person — but get to know what I want from the person,” Williams said.
