Raven-Symoné and her wife, Miranda Maday’s marriage did not get off to such a happily-ever-after start. In fact, the two endured a brief break-up prior to tying the knot in 2020.

How It Started

Both Raven-Symoné and Miranda were guests on Monday’s podcast episode of Wide Open with Ashlyn Harris. During the conversation, Maday shared the reason why she and the That’s So Raven star’s relationship hit a rough patch early on.

“When we got married, Raven kind of gave me a quick, ‘You know, this might be difficult.’ And when one of the reasons that she broke up with me was because she wasn’t ready to be with a white person,” she revealed.”

Maday added that she felt “sad” when Raven expressed this sentiment because “there’s nothing I can do about it.”

“What you about to do? Put on some make-up,” The Cosby Show actress joked.

How It’s Going

Maday went on to address the hate she gets online.

“I get a lot of I’m Raven’s handler. I whitewash her. I’m a gold digger,” she said. “I’m controlling. I don’t let Raven do anything by herself. You know, I talk too much…. I mean, the s**t that I see and hear is is overwhelming and it’s kind of a shame because the truth of what’s happening is we’re a couple that’s trying to like grow, thrive, create content that people may resonate with, might be entertained by.”

The couple host the Tea Time podcast. Maday says it sparked by lack of representation, outside of “Wada Sykes and her wife.”

“Part of why I pitched the idea of YouTube and having a platform together was because I was like I don’t see us anywhere,” Maday exclaimed.
