Regina Hall recently revealed that she was very close to becoming a nun.
The acclaimed actress says after experiencing “incredible romance” with God, she almost signed up to live in a convent.
“I certainly took an initial step,” Hall told Craig Melvin on his “Glass Half Full” podcast.
Hall went on to say that her plans fell by the wayside because of her age.
She said her plans were partially derailed because of her age.
“I was too seasoned,” Hall explained. “They had an age thing. I think the age thing, I don’t know, was like 39, and I was a little north of that.
“Every order is different. Some have age, some have sexual partners, some have family connections,” she continued. “They all have a different ones; they have their own different specifications,” she added.
Hall said her time of researching different orders was like ring shopping.
“I feel like I went ring shopping, you know what I mean? Getting engaged is a big deal, but is it? Marriage is probably a big deal,” she said.
“Of course it was significant, but more significant was probably the time that led up to me wanting to do it,” Hall added.
Melvin was interested in how Hall ended up moving in that direction.
“What led up to it?” Melvin asked Hall.
“Just the incredible romance I was having with God,” Hall answered. “It was just an incredible, it was an incredible time of meditation, of, like, prayer, of quiet. It was just an incredible, peaceful time.”
A BREAKUP LED TO HALL’S SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
Hall, 55, said a breakup caused her to pursue her faith more deeply.
“It was a breakup that had happened probably two or three years before that,” said Hall. “And during that time, it was the most, it made the breakup worth it, you know what I mean?”
“I could see the beauty in, I don’t know. And I could (see) all the beauty in the defined orchestration of things,” she continued. “I thought it was great. The romance continues, but I feel like now we’re like, you know, we’re like a long-time couple now.”
