Following the release of Divorce in the Black, Tyler Perry is back with another production! The upcoming release of Beauty in Black follows Netflix and Tyler Perry unveiling a multiyear, first-look TV series deal that came on top of an earlier creative production partnership.
‘Beauty in Black’, Perry’s first Netflix drama, follows the contrasting lives of Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) and Mallory (Crystle Stewart). Per the press release:
While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out, and Mallory is running a successful business, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives.
The ensemble cast also includes Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook.
Both Richard Lawson and Debbi Morgan starred in Perry’s latest romantic thriller, Divorce in the Black. Lawson has starred in countless movies and tv films including, Poltergeist, For Colored Girls, and Sister, Sister. Morgan, is a decorated actress with over 50 film and television credits. Morgan earned acclaim for her roles in Eve’s Bayou ,The Hurricane, and Love & Basketball.
The 40-second trailer, seen below, promises to be a fusion of drama and thrill. Perry will write, produce, and direct the 16-episode, hour-long series which debuts Thursday, Oct. 24

Beauty in Black will release in two parts, with the first eight episodes dropping Oct. 24. A release date for Part 2 has not yet been announced.
