Tina Knowles isn’t one to stay silent when it comes to her family. On Wednesday, March 19th, she took to Instagram with a message that appeared to address recent online drama involving her grandchildren, Rumi and Sir Carter. The post came just hours after Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, sparked outrage with a now-deleted tweet about the seven-year-old twins.
While on set for a photoshoot for her book, Knowles decided to lighten the mood with a joke. “What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum?” she asked her 4.1 million followers. “He has a meltdown,” she answered, letting out a small laugh before adding, “Y’all know that’s funny.”
But her caption, which has now been edited, made it clear she had more on her mind. “Corny joke, time! It’s hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil,” she wrote, using red heart and praying hand emojis. “But I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper. This battle is not mine, but the Lord’s, I know that God has got this.”
Knowles’ post came on the heels of Ye’s latest online rant, in which he questioned why Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s twins are rarely seen in public. He also made an unverified claim about their mental capabilities, which immediately drew backlash. The tweet was swiftly deleted, with Ye later admitting he only removed it to avoid losing access to his X (formerly Twitter) account.
For years, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have prioritized keeping their children’s lives private. Blue Ivy, 13, has stepped into the spotlight with red carpet appearances and performances. Meanwhile, Rumi and Sir remain mostly out of view. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have not responded to Ye’s comments. However, actress Holly Robinson Peete and countless fans condemned his post, calling it “disgusting.”
