Tyler Perry has officially confirmed that a third installment of his “Why Did I Get Married?” series is in development. Perry shared a photo of a script cover titled Why Did I Get Married Again? along with the words “Table Draft”, hinting the project is advancing toward production. He captioned the Instagram post, “I’m just gonna sit this right here!”

A Return for the Original Cast?

In that same post, Perry tagged several cast members from the first two films. Among them were Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal, Richard T. Jones, and Lamman Rucker. The move has sparked excitement that the original ensemble could reunite for a third chapter. As one report notes, this marks a new phase for the franchise, now officially becoming a trilogy or more.

From Tease to Confirmation

Perry had previously been more cautious about advancing the series. In December 2024, during an appearance on Sherri, he admitted, “I want to, but it’s a lot of logistics…” and emphasized that timing had to align across many busy schedules. Over time, playful social media posts, especially TikTok clips by cast members referencing iconic moments, fueled fan speculation.

Now with the script apparently complete, Perry appears more committed. According to one update, “Why Did I Get Married 3 officially goes into development,” and he seems to be hinting that the original cast will return.

What Fans Can Expect

The two earlier films, released in 2007 and 2010, followed four couples navigating emotionally complex retreats. They earned acclaim for their ensemble cast and life‑lesson themes, ultimately grossing over $115 million combined.

Perry’s earlier statement—“everybody’s got things going on”—indicated the challenge in coordinating such a reunion. But tagging the original cast suggests he may have overcome scheduling hurdles.

Though release plans have yet to be confirmed, the appearance of a complete table draft is a strong sign of forward momentum. Production insiders view a script-ready stage as a key threshold before auditions or location scouting begin.

Fans are already celebrating the news online. Reddit posts and industry commentary refer to Perry’s announcement as a firm confirmation: “Tyler Perry confirms ‘Why Did I Get Married 3’ and teases original cast’s return.”
