Vin Diesel has confirmed that another installment to the Fast & Furious franchise is on the way.
The actor revealed that Fast & Furious 11 is in the works and set to be released in April 2027. During an appearance at Universal Pictures along with Tyrese Gibson and Cody Walker, Diesel talked about the final chapter of the franchise and talked about the three conditions he set for the studio in order to be a part of the movie.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of Fast and Furious in April 2027?’” he said. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.” First, is to bring the franchise back to L.A.! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to street racing! The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”
Diesel’s third request raised eyebrows because the role of Brian O’Conner was played by Paul Walker, who passed away in 2013. Walker’s character made a brief appearance via CGI in Furious 7, where he was driving next to Diesel’s character Dom Toretto before driving off into the sunset.
In May 2023, Fast X was released in theaters and has made over $700 million worldwide. The previous installment was displayed as a two-part finale and it is unclear if Fast 11 will pick up where the last movie left off.
