Actor Wendell Piece is open to reprising his role as a church minister in the 2003 classic, The Fighting Tempations.

In an interview at the NAACP Image Awards, Pierce shared that he is open to seeing how the story could expand after 20 years.

“I would love to do a sequel to Fighting Temptations and see that I have built a mega church,”

“I think a lot of people would be open to it.”

The Fighting Tempations centered on a New York advertising executive who travels to a small Southern town to collect an inheritance but finds he must create a gospel choir and lead it to success before he can collect.

The star studded film featured Oscar winning Cuba Gooding, Jr, Beyoncé, Mike Epps, Steve Harvey, Melba Moore, Faith Evans and Chloe Bailey. Musical performances by Shirley Caesar, The O’Jays and other artists were also included through the project.

Pierce, a New Orleans native, has starred in a multitude of films since his foray into acting beginning in the late-90s.

Pierce starred in all five seasons of the acclaimed HBO drama The Wire and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role. He also starred in the HBO series Treme and has appeared in many feature films including SelmaRayWaiting to Exhale and Hackers. Since Hurricane Katrina, Pierce has been helping to rebuild the flood-ravaged Pontchartrain Park neighborhood in New Orleans.

The Juilliard School trained actor recently mourned the loss of his The Wire co-star, James Ransone, who died by suicide in December.
