Singer Ray J was released on $50,000 bail Thursday after being arrested on criminal-threat charges. The arrest followed a volatile livestream confrontation in which his estranged wife, Princess Love, accused him of brandishing a firearm.
Livestream Turns Chaotic
The drama unfolded early Thanksgiving morning, when Ray J streamed a heated exchange with Princess Love that quickly escalated. According to reports, their argument turned violent when Ray J allegedly grabbed a handgun and began loading it on camera. Moments later, Princess Love — holding one of their children — accused him of pointing the weapon at her. She said, “Ray, you just pointed a gun.”
He responded, denying the accusation: “I didn’t point nothing at y’all.” The livestream then took a darker turn. After Princess Love said, “I called the police,” Ray J allegedly shouted, “I’ll shoot the f—ing police.”
Police arrived at his Los Angeles home just before dawn and took him into custody. Cell-phone footage from inside the jail shows him quietly leaving later Thursday with the help of a bail bondsman. He avoided making any comment to waiting photographers.
Princess Love Breaks Her Silence
Later Thursday, Princess Love addressed the public in an Instagram video, calling the incident a wake-up call. She said she has “never put [her] kids’ lives in danger,” and she would not leave them with “a man who’s waving a gun around.”
She also accused Ray J of past transgressions. She claimed that when the children were previously in his care, they found him “in bed naked with another woman.” The livestream scare pushed her to insist Ray J seek help, saying, “You’re more than drunk.”
Princess Love described the confrontation as beyond abusive and rejected any attempt to downplay it. She said she would no longer tolerate what she deemed “controlling behavior” and “gaslighting.”
Ray J’s next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19, when prosecutors are expected to review the criminal-threat charge.
The couple — married in 2016 — share two children, daughter Melody (7) and son Epik (5). Their divorce proceedings first began in 2024.
