Rising alt-pop singer D4vd has been arrested in connection with the killing of a teenage girl, authorities said.

The 21-year-old artist, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was taken into custody by Los Angeles police last week. He is being held without bail as prosecutors review the case.

Investigators allege the case centers on the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. She was reported missing in 2024 before her remains were discovered months later.

Her decomposed and dismembered body was found in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to Burke. The vehicle had been abandoned and later towed to a Hollywood impound lot.

Authorities said the discovery was made after workers noticed a strong odor coming from the car.

Investigation and Arrest

Police said the arrest followed a lengthy investigation that spanned several months. Detectives gathered evidence before determining there was probable cause.

Burke was arrested April 16 at his residence in the Hollywood Hills, according to officials.

He has not yet been formally charged. The case is expected to be reviewed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Officials emphasized that the arrest does not constitute a conviction. Prosecutors will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to file charges.

Burke’s attorneys strongly denied the allegations.

“Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez,” his legal team said. “We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”

Family Reaction and Public Response

The victim’s family expressed relief following the arrest. They said the development brings them closer to justice.

Celeste’s father described the moment as significant for their grieving family. He has called for accountability and continued investigation.

The case has drawn national attention due to Burke’s rapid rise in the music industry. He gained fame through viral songs and online platforms before signing a major record deal.

Following the discovery of the body, Burke withdrew from public appearances and canceled tour dates.

Authorities have not publicly detailed a possible motive. Investigators also have not confirmed the nature of any relationship between Burke and the victim.
