50 Cent revealed that getting shot nine times transformed his life and career.
Making an appearance on Fox News, the hip-hop legend reflected on the near-fatal event that occurred in 2000.
“I wasn’t thinking about a CD,” 50 laughed. “As soon as you feel fine, the doctors are telling you you’re fine, you’re going to recover. You look and you go, ‘Whoa, what am I going to do?’ The record company is not answering the phone anymore. Everything is changing, and then it’s like you got to figure out how to do it on your own.”
With no streaming, 50 explained how he got his music to the masses.
“We were in a different climate, so I couldn’t do anything that the new artists can do. They go record and upload music to YouTube and Apple iTunes,” he said. “I had to trick bootleggers into thinking to steal it so they could reproduce it and distribute it for me, ’cause there were no other outlets to get it out.”
For his latest TV venture, 50 teamed up with FOX Nation on a new series, 50 Ways to Catch a Killer. The show’s synopsis is: “When killers think they’ve gotten away, the real game begins. 50 Cent hosts the ultimate true-crime series, which dives deep into real-life murder investigations where clever detectives outsmart ruthless killers, and justice comes with a twist. Each episode focuses on unique investigative tactics, expert insights, and critical breakthroughs that lead to arrests or convictions in baffling cases.”
In a press release, 50 shared his vision for the show.
True crime is powerful because it’s real cases, real people, and real justice,” 50 said. “With this series, I want viewers to experience the intensity of these investigations. And the relentless work it takes to uncover the truth. We’re bringing these stories to life in a way that’s both gripping and authentic.”
50 Ways to Catch a Killer currently airs on Fox Nation.
