Former President Barack Obama says President Donald Trump remains unusually focused on him years after the two shared the White House.

Obama made the comments during a recent appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast.

The conversation turned to Trump’s frequent public references to the former president.

Obama responded with a joke before offering a broader criticism.

“I obviously have a room in his head,” Obama said. “A suite in his head.”

The former president suggested Trump’s continued focus on him raises questions about where the current administration’s attention should be directed.

“It is very strange,” Obama said. “You’d think you’d have enough to do without worrying about me.”

He added that presidents have limited time and should prioritize governing over personal grievances.

Obama contrasted Trump’s approach with his own experience in office.

He said he rarely spent time thinking about his predecessor because the responsibilities of the presidency demanded his full attention.

“I didn’t have time to be worrying about what my predecessor was saying,” Obama said. “You’re busy all day.”

Obama Reflects on Governing

During the interview, Obama also discussed how he managed the constant flow of news while serving in office.

He said he intentionally limited his exposure to cable television and social media.

Obama argued that excessive attention to daily political commentary can distract leaders from making informed decisions.

“You have to be focused on the people you’re serving,” he said, explaining that governing requires concentration rather than reacting to every headline.

The remarks come as the relationship between Obama and Trump continues to draw attention.

Trump has frequently criticized Obama during campaign rallies, interviews and social media posts.

Their political rivalry dates back more than a decade.

It intensified after Trump promoted the false “birther” conspiracy questioning Obama’s citizenship before launching his first presidential campaign.

Obama’s latest comments quickly spread across social media.

Supporters praised the former president’s humor.

Critics argued his remarks further escalated the ongoing political feud.

The interview also coincided with renewed public attention surrounding the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.

Obama discussed the project as part of his post-presidential work.

He described the center as a place designed to encourage civic engagement and develop future leaders.

Longstanding Political Feud Continues

The exchange underscores the enduring political tension between the two presidents.

Although Obama has largely avoided responding to Trump’s criticism over the years, he has occasionally addressed their contentious relationship.

His latest remarks rank among his sharpest public comments directed at Trump since leaving office.

The former president framed the issue less as a personal dispute and more as a question of presidential priorities.

He argued that effective leadership requires staying focused on governing rather than revisiting past political battles.

Whether the latest exchange prompts another response from Trump remains to be seen.
