Singer and actress Christina Milian says her family has embraced life in France after relocating to Paris with her husband, French singer M. Pokora, and their children.
Milian recently shared that her younger children have become bilingual since the move, calling the transition smoother than expected. The actress spoke about the family’s adjustment during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival.
“The kids have taken to it,” Milian said. “The kids love going back home, of course, to L.A., too, to go visit their cousins and everyone.”
She added that life in Paris now feels routine for the family.
“So it’s like a vacation when they go back there, but then their life over here is parks and school, and their friends, and it’s very normal for them,” she said.
Milian and Pokora moved their family to France after years of splitting time between Los Angeles and Paris. The couple shares sons Isaiah and Kenna. Milian is also mother to daughter Violet from a previous relationship.
Building a Life in Paris
The entertainer has spoken openly about wanting her children to experience French culture firsthand. She said the move offered a unique opportunity for language immersion and a different pace of life.
“There’s no language barrier,” Milian said about her younger sons. “They wouldn’t know any different.”
She said her teenage daughter also adapted well to the move.
“My 16-year-old daughter, for her, she’s experienced it. Now it’s new for her, but she speaks French,” Milian said. “She has French friends and then she has L.A. friends, and it’s a really cool life to be able to give your kids.”
Milian previously explained that she and Pokora decided to settle in Paris before the children became deeply rooted in American schools and routines. The actress has described the French lifestyle as calmer and more family-centered than Hollywood life.
The move also changed her work schedule. Milian said she now handles many entertainment meetings and business calls during the evening because of the time difference with Los Angeles.
“My daytime, I get to do the family stuff,” she previously said. “I work out. I do my self-care thing. I cook dinner.”
Balancing Career and Family
Despite the international move, Milian continues working in film and television projects tied to the United States. She recently appeared in “Dexter: Original Sin” while balancing motherhood abroad.
The actress said she still values her American roots and frequently returns to Los Angeles with her children to visit family members and friends. Still, Paris increasingly feels like home.
“I do think we’ll stay there for a long time,” Milian previously said of the family’s future in France.
Milian’s comments reflect a growing number of entertainers choosing to raise children outside Hollywood while maintaining careers in the entertainment industry. For Milian, the biggest reward appears to be watching her children adapt to a multicultural life.
The actress said keeping her children connected to language and culture remains a priority as they continue building their lives in Paris.
