Colin Kaepernick may have played his game of football on January 1st, but his commitment to football endures. During a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, the 36-year-old spoke of his relentless drive to rejoin the league after nearly a decade away, according to BET. Kaepernick said, “It was 15 years of work and dedication before I ever stepped foot on an NFL field.” “To have that passion and chase it for that long, you don’t just give that up. You pursue it.”
Despite his challenges tied to his age, Kaepernick remains hopeful. With just four active quarterbacks, 36 or older, he remains undeterred. He further explained, “There will never be an instance where I’m not ready, and there will never be an instance where it’s because I don’t want to anymore.”
Kaepernick Pushes for NFL Return
Kaepernick shared that he’s been pushing himself through intense workouts, showcasing his progress online while reaching out to NFL teams, confident that he can still compete at the highest level. He stated, “We’re still training, still pushing.” “I mean, it’s something I’ve trained my whole life for.”
During his final year as a starter quarterback, Kaepernick recorded a completion percentage of 59.2%, amassing 2,241 yards, 16 touchdown passes, and only four interceptions. However, despite these statistics, his 2022 workout with the Las Vegas Raiders did not result in a signed contract. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful, saying, “Hopefully, we’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up.”
