Dwight Howard has dropped a restraining order against his estranged wife, Amy Luciani, as the couple moves forward with divorce proceedings, according to recent reports.
The decision comes just days after Howard initially sought court protection. He had accused Luciani of threatening behavior and harassment.
Howard’s attorney said the move signals a shift in tone. The goal is to resolve the divorce more cooperatively.
“The first step in the process to an amicable resolution,” attorney Gillian B. Fierer said, describing the withdrawal of the order.
Fierer added that such actions are common in divorce cases. She noted they can help reduce tension and streamline negotiations.
Legal Dispute Follows Turbulent Split
Howard, 40, filed for divorce in March, calling the marriage “irretrievably broken.”
The couple married in January 2025. Their relationship has faced repeated legal and public challenges.
Court filings show this was not their first attempt to separate. Both previously filed for divorce in 2025 but later reconciled.
The restraining order was granted earlier this month. It required Luciani to stay away from Howard and his children.
Howard alleged she threatened him with weapons. He also claimed she damaged property and made defamatory statements online.
Luciani has not publicly responded to the latest development.
Police Calls and Public Allegations Intensify Case
The divorce follows a series of incidents at the couple’s Georgia home. Authorities responded to multiple calls in early March.
Reports indicate those calls involved a domestic dispute, a theft complaint, and a possible suicide threat.
Howard also accused Luciani of taking valuables from his vehicle. The items reportedly included cash, jewelry, and personal documents.
Meanwhile, Luciani made public allegations against Howard on social media. She accused him of drug use and abusive behavior.
Howard has denied those claims. In a public response, he said, “Never done coke in my life.”
The dispute has drawn widespread attention due to both figures’ public profiles. Howard is a former NBA champion and Hall of Fame inductee.
Luciani is known for her music career and appearances on reality television.
Attorneys for Howard are urging privacy as the case continues. Both parties are expected to proceed with divorce negotiations in the coming weeks.
