Jennifer Hudson said she is ready to return to the stage. She will join Josh Groban for a co-headlining arena tour next summer.
Hudson spoke to PEOPLE about preparing for the run. She described music as her foundation and called the upcoming shows essential.
“Music is the base for me,” Hudson told the magazine. “I can’t wait to get back to the musical base in concert form.”
The 16-date trek starts June 2 in Montreal. It runs through July 3 in Salt Lake City, organizers said.
Hudson also teased a possible surprise appearance by her boyfriend, Common.
“You know what? We’ll see. We’ll see. I wouldn’t count that out,” she said.
She left open how the shows will take shape. “How the music hits us is how we respond,” Hudson added.
Groban has hinted at duet moments during the run. The pairing is billed as “two legendary voices, one unforgettable evening.”
Hudson is also promoting projects beyond music. She hosts a daytime talk show and has released a recent holiday album.
Fans have noticed Hudson and Common’s public moments. Their relationship has generated headlines since 2022.
Tour producers plan traditional arena staging, with full band support. Final set lists and guest appearances remain unannounced.
Ticket presales are scheduled before general sale, per the announcement. A portion of proceeds will support arts education, the organizers said.
Hudson signaled she wants the concerts to feel spontaneous. “If it’s on his spirit, my spirit, our spirit, you may get to see that,” she said.
