Megan Thee Stallion is getting candid about life after her breakup with NBA star Klay Thompson.

The Grammy-winning rapper discussed the relationship in a new Marie Claire cover story published Sept. 29. Months after their split, Megan said she is still processing what happened.

“I’m not pretending I’m 100 percent okay,” Megan said. “I ain’t never been through nothing like that in my whole life. I’ve never, ever, ever been in a relationship like that, ever. So I’m definitely not worried about another one for a long time.”

Megan and Thompson publicly confirmed their relationship in summer 2025. They made their red carpet debut at Megan’s Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala that July.

The relationship became increasingly public in the months that followed. The pair shared workout videos and glimpses into their lives together.

Megan also spent time with Thompson’s family. At one point, she shared a photo that appeared to suggest the couple had taken another step forward together. However, the relationship ended in April.

Megan announced the breakup after accusing Thompson of infidelity and questioning whether he could remain monogamous. Thompson did not publicly address those allegations at the time.

Megan says the breakup left her ‘in shock’

Five months later, Megan said the way the relationship ended continues to affect her.

“It was so abrupt. I’m in shock still,” she told Marie Claire.

The rapper also reflected on how she felt while still in the relationship.

“When something is meant for you, it’s gonna be easy,” Megan said. “It’s gonna be right. It’s not gonna feel like a panic all the time.”

She said that feeling of anxiety had become familiar.

“I feel like that’s what I was in, constantly on edge,” she continued. “My nervous system needed to calm down. I feel like I was in a panic 24/7. I’m still not eating all the way right. I’m feeling all the feelings. I’m not trying to take no shortcuts.”

Her latest comments follow another candid interview about the relationship. Speaking with InStyle in September, Megan described the breakup as “very rough.” She also acknowledged losing parts of herself while trying to make the relationship work.

“I think I just kept trying to make pieces fit that didn’t belong, trying to fit myself into someone else’s life,” Megan said. “I was losing myself a little bit. I am now in the space of finding me again.”

Megan Thee Stallion is not rushing into another relationship

For now, romance appears to be far from Megan’s list of priorities.

“I’m not thinking about anything romantic,” she told Marie Claire. “I’m definitely not thinking about no damn relationship.”

Instead, Megan said she is learning to trust herself after recognizing moments when she questioned her instincts.

“Sometimes I be knowing in my gut and in my heart, then you give so much benefit of the doubt,” she said. “No, the gut is always right. Listen.”

Megan has also been pouring energy into her music. She is currently working on the third installment of her “Megan” album series. She released “Tina Tuesday Freestyle” alongside a music video Sept. 29.

The project arrives during a year of significant changes for the Houston rapper. She expanded into acting, Broadway and business while continuing her recording career.

Through those changes, Megan said she is learning how to move forward without pretending difficult experiences never happened. Her approach to relationships appears to have changed as well.

In her earlier InStyle interview, Megan said any future relationship must allow her to remain fully herself.

“I cannot be minimized. I will not be behind any man. I will have a partner. I will be equals with my partner,” she said.
