The Last Dance Air Jordan 13’s have significantly appreciated over the years.

The year 2023 is marked as the “Jordan Year” – a reference to Michael Jordan’s jersey number. In celebration of the ‘Jordan Year’, Sotheby, one of the world’s largest brokers of collectibles has announced their VICTORIAM curated collection of sports artifacts. The two-part collection will be led by Michael Jordan’s 1998 NBA Finals Game 2 Air Jordan XIII.

The Air Jordan 13’s were worn by the Chicago Bulls legend in 1998 during a match against the Utah Jazz at Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Ever since Michael led the Bulls to a 93-88 victory, the sneakers have been a cultural hallmark.

Immediately following the game, Michael gifted a pair of sneakers to a ball-boy who was in charge of the visitor’s locker room. Michael signed each shoe with a silver marker and handed them to the boy as a thank you for his services.

According to Sothebys, the pair of sneakers are in pristine condition and is expected to auction for $2 million to $4 million USD. The Air Jordan 13 “Bred” will possibly shatter records and become the highest-selling pair of sneakers to auction.

The auction comes on the heels of the forthcoming film release of ‘Air’. The film chronicles Nike’s rise to sneaker dominance through its partnership with Michael Jordan in the mid ‘80s and genesis of the famed Air Jordan sneaker.

Bidding for the Air Jordan 13 opens online between April 3rd – April 11th at Sothebys.com. The illustrious memorabilia will also be on display at Sotheby’s New York.
