Usher is this year’s Lifetime Achievement honoree at the 2024 BET Awards. The R&B veteran is also nominated for four BET Awards at this year’s ceremony – album of the year for Coming Home, best collaboration and video of the year for “Good Good” and best male R&B/pop artist. Usher won in the latter category last year in a tie with Chris Brown.

The coveted Lifetime Achievement award commemorates industry pioneers who have shifted culture and the entertainment industry. Previous recipients including Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, Samuel Jackson, Lionel Richie, New Edition, Busta Rhymes, among others.

Surprise guests who will take the stage to celebrate USHER and his ever-growing musical legacy will be announced soon.

“The relationship between BET and USHER spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 & Park, to most recently winning the Entertainer of the Year trophy at the 55th NAACP Image Awards,” said Connie Orlando, BET EVP, Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy.

With an illustrious three-decade career and over 80 million records sold worldwide, Usher’s impact on the industry is undeniable. His groundbreaking albums, including My Way and Confessions have shattered records and earned him numerous accolades, including eight GRAMMY® Awards. In 2024, Usher’s trailblazing journey continued with his headlining performance at the Apple Music halftime show for Super Bowl LVIII and the release of his highly anticipated ninth album, Coming Home, which marked his debut as an independent artist.

The 2024 BET Awards will air live on the East Coast on Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
