The Weeknd has pledged $1 million to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts, providing aid to firefighters and displaced residents. The donation will be distributed among the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief Fund, and the L.A. Regional Food Bank. The latter will work in collaboration with World Food Program USA and The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund.
The Weeknd Joins Relief Efforts Following Devastating Blazes
“This is about standing with the people of Los Angeles during one of their hardest times,” said The Weeknd in a statement. His contribution aims to address the aftermath of the Palisades and Eaton fires, which caused extensive damage across the region.
The announcement comes after The Weeknd postponed the release of his album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, and a planned Rose Bowl concert. The event, originally scheduled for January 25, was set to feature a sprawling stage covering the stadium floor. The artist deemed it inappropriate to celebrate so close to areas ravaged by fire.
“The situation demanded attention and compassion,” a source close to the singer said. “Rescheduling was the only right thing to do.”
The Weeknd’s donation is part of a broader outpouring of support from celebrities and major companies. Beyoncé contributed $2.5 million, while Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest matched The Weeknd’s $1 million commitment. Other notable figures like Eva Longoria, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Taylor Swift have also joined the efforts.
Corporate America has stepped in as well. Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, YouTube, and Google each pledged $15 million. Amazon, Comcast, and Netflix contributed $10 million apiece, while Sony and Paramount Global committed additional funds.
